Surprises We Find During Site Audits

Its very surprising what we find during site audits at times!

A College using paint bag filters for HVAC.

A hospital using the same MERV rating filters for pre-filters and secondary filters (redundant).

A hospital using ASHRAE filters they thought were HEPA filters.

A manufacturing plant using an extremely restrictive filter causing severe air quality issues.

A hospital using all double header filters for no reason. (added cost and Leadtime)

A manufacturing plant with many filters missing. (due to non-functioning gauges casing filters to collapse)

A commercial building with bag filters installed incorrectly (turned 90 degrees causing them to sag)

On and on it goes, wrong size, wrong application, bent filter tracks and more……

Often what we find is that somewhere along the line either a maintenance person changed and or a substitute filter was used in a pinch and became permanent. Other times it was a poorly educated filter supplier selling the wrong product for their customer’s needs.

Whatever the case, an occasional review of your filters with a trained filter expert is very worthwhile! The filters may be a small part of your maintenance budget but the affect they have on the other portions of your budget may be eating your lunch!
